We’re all doing our best

It’s important to recognise that everyone is doing their best – your precious self included.  Hollie McNish read a beautiful poem on the latest edition of The Verb (Radio 3), called ‘Our Own Way’, which I encourage you to find: for those of you against the clock, or against that much poetry in one go, it starts at 42:50.  McNish makes the point far more eloquently and entertainingly than I could, that this is not about achieving great things, it’s about getting to the finish line in as few pieces as possible.  As Mother Teresa said, ‘Not all of us can do great things, but we can do small things with great love.’

Small things that make a big difference can include stopping to enjoy your favourite cuppa, listening to nature, wearing your softest woolie, or reading a special poem.  I’m sure you have your own ideas; remember to enrich the experience further by recognising what you’re doing, and by acknowledging that you’re doing your best….
